Sheeran told People Magazine previous year that he's known Seaborn since they were children but they didn't start dating until he invited her to Taylor Swift's Fourth of July party in 2015.

Ed, who announced his engagement to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn on Saturday, recently revealed that he expects his ambitious streak to dissolve somewhat once the couple decide to start a family.

Ed announced his engagement on Instagram with a sweet Instagram post of himself and Cherry, 24, kissing.

Sharing a photograph of them together with his more than 18 million followers, Sheeran wrote: "Got myself a fiancé just before new year".

Chatting in my Wired exclusive, Ed said: "My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids".

"I've known Cherry since I was 11", the "Shape of You" singer told People.
