Sen. Durbin: Trump said those hateful things

Sen. Lindsey Graham R-S.C. chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism questions Attorney General Jeff Sessions during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington Wednesday Oct. 18 2017. (AP

"You didn't hear the word or it was not said?".

"I'm saying that this is a gross misrepresentation", Perdue said.

"Someone saying that Sen".

"The gross misrepresentation was that language there that was used was not used", Perdue responded.

Among them are the Dreamers - young immigrants brought to the United States legally as children - and more than 200,000 Salvadorans, almost 60,000 Haitians and others from Central America who have lived in the country legally, in some cases for decades, under temporary protected status.

Purdue also blasted the Illinois Democrat, pointing out that Durbin likely mischaracterized comments a House Republican made to President Barack Obama in 2013.

"The gross misrepresentation was that language was used in there that was not used".

Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton told Face the Nation's John Dickerson also didn't hear Trump say the word during the meeting, and that Durbin "has a history" of misrepresenting the truth.

'I certainly didn't hear what Sen. Durbin has said repeatedly. Sen.

Thompson finished the night with 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting, and missed both of his 3-point attempts. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field to lead the Bucks.

Perdue denies Trump said "s-thole countries" in a White House meeting, although he previously was unable to remember.

. Dick Durbin questioned Perdues credibility. "Senator Durbin has it. Senator Perdue does not".

Trump's comments have been denounced by lawmakers and others across the nation and around the world as offensive and racist.

"I can't defend the indefensible. We're going to get something done and move forward and it's going to be good for our country".

"Why do we want all these people from "shithole countries" coming here?"

Additionally, there are plenty who are outraged that President Trump would even suggest that America be picky about which immigrants are allowed to come to the United States, arguing that no country should be denigrated in such a manner.

Trump "said things which were hate-filled, vile and racist", Durbin told reporters.

And Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen went with the standard "I don't recall him using that exact phrase" defense to Fox News's Chris Wallace. "I think that they were unfortunate".

Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, who was briefed by Durbin and a fellow GOP Senator who attended the meeting, confirmed that version of events to CNN. Lindsey Graham, both South Carolina Republicans, told him the reported comments are "basically accurate", and he countered Trump in the meeting. In a statement, the White House did not dispute the remarks, merely saying Trump "will always fight for the American people".
