Britain's queen dishes on crown weight in documentary

Queen's Imperial State Crown

He added: "I think that is one of the reasons why she has chosen the 65th anniversary [of her coronation] to allow us this extraordinary unique access to the crown jewels and for her to take part in helping to bring them to life".

The holy oil that was used to anoint Queen Elizabeth II during her coronation will be shown tonight for the very first time.

The Queen wore two crowns for her coronation: the St Edward's Crown, which she has never worn since, and the diamond-encrusted Imperial State Crown, which she wears at formal occasions such as the opening of parliament when she delivers a speech outlining the government's legislative plans.

But despite looking the picture of happiness to the thousands of people that lined the streets to watch, she has revealed she was actually quite uncomfortable.

During her 90 minute "conversation" with royal commentator Alastair Bruce, the 91-year-old monarch reflected on the unexpected downsides of the momentous event, saying the Imperial State Crown was so heavy she was unable to look down.

Ex-Oregon HC Mark Helfrich Reportedly Hired as Bears' Offensive Coordinator
Hiestand, 59, is a 35-year coaching veteran who spent the past five seasons overseeing the Fighting Irish offensive line. His salary with the Bears will mitigate what the school still owes him. "I have a command, I feel like, in the room".

The Cosmopolitan.com editor spent an entire week living like Queen Elizabeth II, which is apparently harder than it looks. But for, wearing the crown comes with far more practical concerns.

"I make a comment, "It's awesome how red this wall hanging is", and then there was a pause and the Queen would say, 'Well, red is a very strong colour, ' and off we go". "But once you put it on, it stays. I mean, it just remains itself".

But the Palace made it clear that the Queen is not being interviewed in the documentary, which tells the story of the Crown Jewels and the ancient ceremony in which they play a key role.

"Because if you did [look down] your neck would break and [the crown] would fall off", the Queen said, smiling as she tilted her head downwards. Anxious that the weight of the elaborate jewels at the centrepiece of her crown would injure her neck, she quips: "So there are some disadvantages to crowns, but otherwise they're quite important things".

"I remember one moment when I was going against the pile of the carpet and I couldn't move at all", she said.
