Google Sued Over Bias Against 'Conservative White Men'

Google Memo Author James Damore Sues Company For Discrimination Against White Males

Damore's original memo, which was leaked this fall, criticized Google's "left leaning" culture and argued that women in engineering were paid less than men due to their biological differences, not because of hiring practice.

Photo James Damore's lawsuit against Google, which fired him previous year after he criticized its diversity efforts, said, "Google's open hostility for conservative thought is paired with invidious discrimination on the basis of race and gender".

Attorneys for Damore and the other engineer, David Gudeman, filed the lawsuit today in Santa Clara Superior Court, and are seeking to represent others whose rights they claim were also violated.

Freezing drizzle, light freezing rain possible Sunday morning
Highs are expected to be in the 30s on Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday, he said, and the mid-40s on Thursday. Sunday will bring snow and sleet before 2 p.m., then sleet between 2 and 3 p.m. and then rain after 3 p.m.

"Google's management goes to extreme - and illegal - lengths to encourage hiring managers to take protected categories such as race and/or gender into consideration as determinative hiring factors, to the detriment of Caucasian and male employees and potential employees at Google", the suit reads. They claim they were discriminated against because they are both male and Caucasian, and Google's practices favor women and minorities.

Mr. Damore has battled publicly with Google since he was sacked in August for writing an internal memo criticizing the company's efforts to increase diversity among its workforce, initiatives he said discriminated against white men. The memo said that "genetic differences" may explain "why we don't see equal representation of women in tech and leadership". Meanwhile, Google's HR department allegedly accused a conservative employee of "inciting violence" after he stated that he would teach traditional gender roles to his children.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Damore and Gudeman's lawsuit on Monday.
