Golden Globes: 5 Actresses Who Brought Activists to the Show

Ahead of the red carpet Sunday, some of the industry's most prominent women took to social media to share their personal reasons for wearing black and supporting the the Time's Up initiative, which was launched by hundreds of Hollywood women like Streep, Reese Witherspoon and Shonda Rhimes.

Several actresses are expected to wear all-black ensembles on the Globes red carpet as a protest statement against Hollywood's ongoing sexual abuse scandal.

Other actresses bringing along activists to Sunday night's ceremony in Los Angeles include Emma Watson, Amy Poehler, and Shailene Woodley.

- Tarana Burke, senior director of the nonprofit Girls for Gender Equity and founder of the #MeToo movement, will attend with Ms. Williams, a nominee for her performance in "All the Money in the World".

The special plus-ones afforded the women an opportunity to keep questions on the carpet about issues.

She's an important voice when it comes to women's rights and is an activist for helping ordinary women receive some the treatment that they deserve.
