Al Franken's Farcical Resignation Speech

Franken accused of groping journalist at Media Matters party for Obama inauguration

Several among the group of eight women who have accused Senator Al Franken of past sexual misconduct are now speaking publicly, and all of them are making it clear that they are not pleased with his words spoken on the Senate floor Thursday.

"It was also quick; he knew exactly what he was doing", Dupuy wrote.

One of the women accusing Franken, an Army veteran from Maineville, Ohio, expressed her feeling Thursday, saying Franken needed to resign from office. Franken said he had a different recollection of the skit rehearsal, but said he welcomed a Senate ethics investigation into the allegation. Surely the speech announcing his resignation was a chance for him to show contrition before the Senate, the country, and, perhaps most importantly, the women who had risked public shaming to report their experiences with him.

"I think it's a good thing (he resigned), with all the allegations against him", added another woman. "And there were", she said.

"Al Franken's familiarity was inappropriate and unwanted". She loves Franken, so I asked to get a picture with him.

"Over the last few weeks, a number of women have come forward to talk about how they felt my actions had affected them", he began.

Honor View 10 first impressions: Worthy contender to OnePlus 5T
The new flagship is just as capable as the Huawei Mate 10 but for less money, and it's the most ambitious Honor smartphone so far. The battery at 3,750mAh is decent and then there is the proprietary 5V / 4.5A fast charge using USB type C is on board as well.

Al Franken's Thursday resignation found critics in some Democrats who weren't eager to surrender one of their more personable elected officials and, unsurprisingly, Rosie O'Donnell was one of the voices crying foul.

Leeann Tweeden posted this photo online that she says was taken while she was asleep on a flight back from a 2006 USO trip. Then the conversation turned to me.

After Tweeden came forward, multiple other women accused Franken of groping them.

Regardless of Tweeden's past career moves (which were her own choices made with her own agency), the fact remains that she did not want to kiss Franken and she definitely did not want him to take a picture with him groping her breasts.

A couple of things are going on here: 1) Democrats obviously want to clear the decks to get a clear line of fire on Roy Moore and Donald Trump, and Franken realizes he can't stand in the way; 2) In the current environment in the Democratic party it is hard to question the credibility of any accusers, so Franken would have just dug himself in a deeper hole by trying to defend himself (this is a dynamic that could lead to injustices); 3) Franken is pretty clearly not telling the truth in his denials, and that would have become even more obvious over time.
