Dem plans to force House floor vote on impeaching Trump

House Democrats Are Going to Try to Impeach President Trump Again

A Texas Democrat plans to force an impeachment vote against President Donald Trump on the floor of the House of Representatives today.

Forcing a vote on impeachment before investigators complete their work, Democratic leaders say, may undermine the potential for a bipartisan effort over impeachment if inquiries uncovered compelling evidence against Trump.

While Green is not the only member of Congress to have drafted articles of impeachment, he could become the first lawmaker to trigger a vote Wednesday.

The Democratic leaders have long believed that any effort to take up Trump's impeachment is premature as long as investigations by multiple congressional committees, as well as by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, are underway.

All in all, it was a politically inept decision on Green's part.

"In doing this, hatred disguised as acceptable political correctness has festered in our body politic and polluted our discourse to our detriment", Green said.

Independents - not BJP - won Uttar Pradesh civic polls
BJP, however, managed to grab 70 seats of Nagar Palika chairmen, followed by 43 independents, SP 43, BSP 29 and Congress 9. Mayawati's remarks came a day after her party came second to the BJP in the civic body polls held in Uttar Pradesh .

At least a handful of fellow Democrats may vote for Green's resolution. Republicans are expected to offer a motion to table the resolution later Wednesday, effectively killing Green's resolution.

The articles claim Trump brought shame and dishonor to the office of the president by being associated "with causes rooted in white supremacy, bigotry, racism, anti-Semitism, white nationalism, or neo-Nazism".

"Legitimate questions have been raised about his fitness to lead this nation", Pelosi and Hoyer continued.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer tell Democrats: "Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment".

Many Democrats joined the Republican majority in voting, 364-58, to table the resolution from Mr. The resolution cites the comments made after the white nationalist marches in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August, after which Trump said the marchers on both sides were "very fine people". The vote was not on the articles of impeachment themselves but on tabling the proposal. Instead, he argues that Trump has "brought disrepute, contempt, ridicule and disgrace on the presidency" and "sown discord among the people of the United States".
