Undocumented immigrant not guilty of murder in polarizing San Francisco case

Mexican Man Found Not Guilty of Murder Charges in 2015 Fatal Shooting of Kate Steinle

A photo of murder victim Kate Steinle, right, is placed on an easel as her father Jim Steinle (second from left) prepares to testify about her murder during a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee on US immigration enforcement policies, on Capitol Hill in Washington on July 21, 2015.

Zarate was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump cited the Steinle killing as a justification for his intended crackdown on immigration. "We were the ideal storm for that man".

Since San Francisco remains a sanctuary city that gives safe haven to criminal illegal aliens, ICE officials will have to know the exact date and time that local law enforcement will release the illegal alien in order to detain him and ultimately deport him.

Steinle was killed while posing for pictures with her father on a San Francisco pier.

The case came down to a question of intent.

"It was San Francisco's sanctuary city policies that killed Kate Steinle", Hannity said.

Ockhi unleashes rain fury in south Tamil Nadu, Kerala; 8 dead
The report added that Kerala can expect heavy winds that can reach up to speeds of 85 kmph along South Kerala coast. During next 48 hours high velocity winds up to the speed of 55 km to 65 km per hour are expected in southern Kerala.

Speaking after the verdict, Garcia Zarate's chief defense attorney, Matt Gonzalez, noted not only Sessions' previous comments on the case but also sharply warned Trump and others in his administration against commenting on the outcome, equating the case to the investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 elections and possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russians.

The defendant had been deported five times. He was scheduled for a sixth deportation in 2015 while he was in federal custody for felony reentry.

The accused admitted to firing the weapon but said it was an accident.

Steinle died after Zarate's bullet ricocheted off of a pier in San Francisco, something the defense said happened unintentionally when the gun - which Zarate allegedly found on the pier that day - fired accidentally, Fox News reported. "They followed these ridiculous liberal policies, and because of their stupidity and their "form of justice" and caring more about the rights of illegal, convicted felons, tonight Kate Steinle is dead and her family has received no justice".

Defense attorney Matt Gonzalez said in his closing argument that he knows it's hard to believe Garcia Zarate found an object that turned out to be a weapon, which fired when he picked it up. He had just completed a federal prison sentence for re-entering the country after deportation when he was transferred to San Francisco by federal authorities based on a warrant for a marijuana charge. A federal judge dismissed the family's claims against San Francisco and former Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi earlier this year.

"Her death was preventable - and it should have been prevented", Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in July.

The measure was introduced in the Senate but failed to get the 60 votes needed to pass.
