Arsenal prefer Ozil to Barca

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil wants to join Barcelona in January. A fee in the range of €20m (£18m, $24m) would close the deal for the Arsenal midfielder with the Catalans looking to strengthen in January to bolster their squad for their European campaign, having already taken a heavy lead in La Liga.

Alexis Sanchez is also likely to leave the club at the end of this season.

Ozil is nearly certain to quit the Gunners at the end of the season when his existing deal with the club runs out. It does not depend on me.

The defender has emerged as a key player for Arsenal this season and earned much credit for his performance against Tottenham during the north London derby last weekend. If the club want them to stay beyond December they will follow. "It is other people who are the ones who have to make a decision".

Bring on the rumours I say!

Ozil is out of contract in the summer and looks set to quit the Emirates.

Lebanon's Al-Hariri arrives in Cairo for talks with Sisi
His failure to return to Lebanon since then had sparked rumors he was being held in Riyadh against his will, which both he and Saudi officials have since denied.

Sanchez and Ozil recorded a goal and assist respectively in the 2-0 win and showed exactly why they're so important to the Gunners.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Ozil would be on an income of £17million gross per year and will also ask for a sizeable signing-on bonus.

Mesut Ozil was named man of the match after the World Cup victor teed up his compatriot Mustafi to make the breakthrough against Spurs.

Wow. Ozil's demands are very steep and given Barcelona's financial resources have been drained by Lionel Messi's new £500,000-per-week deal, they probably can't afford him.

The 29-year-old German worldwide also wants a number of add-ons and bonuses if he joins Barcelona.

Former Los Blancos star Ozil may be considered a contentious signing by some of those in power at rivals Barca, but if a creative midfielder is what the club desire, they may not find many better winter options.
