'Captain Marvel': Jude Law Lands Male Lead Opposite Brie Larson

Jude Law to Star Opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel

The most recent draft of the script features Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is merged with an alien during an accident.

Larson previously said that some Captain Marvel fans won't be satisfied with her take on the character.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who directed Half Nelson. He is also still attached to appear in a third Sherlock Holmes movie with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr.

Jude Law is in negotiations to play the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Marvel's "Captain Marvel", sources tell Variety.

South Carolina Women's Basketball Team Declines Donald Trump White House Invite
Trump began a series of stops on the South Lawn, then went to the State Floor and Rose Garden on the White House grounds. On Thursday, the team finally got their invite to attend the White House on Friday, but they passed.

The Captain Marvel cast is now small, but growing.

This would mark the second major tentpole part Law has landed this year after getting the role of young Albus Dumbledore in "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald". Well it sounds like the film is going full-on Ant-Man, as Law will be filling the role of Doctor Walter Lawson, otherwise known as Mar-Vell-the first Captain Marvel. Mar-Vell will be a mentor to Carol Danvers as she learns to harness her newfound superpowers. The film will co-star Ben Mendelsohn as the villain. It's also thought Samuel L. Jackson may show up as a younger Nick Fury. Both of those films are set up at Warner Brothers.

Details on Captain Marvel are still mostly under wraps, but we know it'll be an origin story set in the early 1990s.

The mentor of Captain Marvel has been found.
