Dwayne Johnson has a monster-sized problem on his hands in the first trailer for Rampage.

Historically, of course, film adaptations of games have been bad. Ryan Engle, Carlton Cuse, Ryan J Condal, and Adam Sztykiel wrote the script, and the film's based on the popular video game of the same name.

Naomie Harris co-stars with Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello and The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan. According to IMDB, Peyton is also attached to direct a Just Cause film. The behind the scenes team includes director of photography Jaron Presant (2nd unit, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), production designer Barry Chusid (San Andreas), editor Jim May (Goosebumps), and costume designer Melissa Bruning (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

Adapted from the classic 1980s arcade game, the first Rampage footage introduces "The Rock" as a primatologist named Davis Okoye, who's spent the past few years befriending and caring for an intelligent silverback gorilla named George. When a genetic experiment goes wrong and turns George and other animals into very big, destructive monsters that wreak havoc across North America, Davis must team with a discredited genetic engineer to find a cure, stop the rampaging beasts and save his simian friend. Soon Davis learns other animals have been infected, and they are tearing up cities in North America.
