Catch-22 series in the works from George Clooney

George Clooney to Direct and Star in 'Catch-22' Series From Paramount TV

Paramount Television and Anonymous Content are developing a limited-series adaptation of the classic 1961 novel by Joseph Heller.

Clooney will appear as Yossarian's commander, Colonel Cathcart, and we can already sense the best supporting actor Emmy nomination.

The Raid Lair will be shorter than the original raid which may be useful for those who can not spend consecutive hours playing. The DLC will see the return of the Heroic Strike playlist, and the introduction of the Raid Lair.

Clooney's producing partner Grant Heslov will direct some of the series, and the episodes were co-written by Luke Davies and David Michôd, who will also executive produce. He has signed on to both star in and direct a "Catch-22" adaptation, Deadline reports. It focuses on Yossarian, an Air Force bombardier who's furious due to the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22, which specifies that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind. If a soldier declares insanity to be released from duty so as to avoid participating in risky missions - only an insane person would continue to fly into certain danger - doesn't his declaration inherently demonstrate sanity?

Clooney will be playing the conniving USA army colonel Cathcart. Clooney played Dr. Doug Ross on the long-running medical drama ER back in the '90s, and was even nominated for two Emmys for his work.

Catch-22 is the first acting gig for George in quite some time, as his last significant appearance was in 2016's Money Monster.
