Kraft deposed in Kaepernick suit against NFL

Colin Kaepernick

Kaepernick's lawyers are clearly hoping to gather evidence in support of his collusion case by coming across an email or phone where McNair or any other owner may have advised one another not to sign Kaepernick.

The sports site notes that, per ABC News reports, owners were chosen for depositions based on their public statements regarding Kaepernick and/or the the protests against police brutality and black oppression during the playing of the national anthem.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says that certain National Football League team owners, including Jerry Jones, Bob McNair and Robert Kraft, will be asked to surrender their cell phone records and emails as it pertains to Kaepernick's collusion case.

Other owners involved include San Francisco 49ers' Jed York and Seattle Seahawks' Paul Allen, according to ABC News.

The NFL Player's Association has extended an offer to help Kaepernick "as we do all players", but Kaep chose to forgo their aid and to hire Geragos instead.

What began with Kaepernick kneeling has spread throughout the NFL and has made its way into other leagues.

Kaepernick drew national attention last season when he knelt during the national anthem before games to protest social injustice.

A number of players followed Kaepernick's lead by taking a knee during the anthem past year and this season.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers at the end of last season and remains a free agent despite a rash of injuries and poor play at the quarterback position.

Jones has said he would bench any Cowboys player who protests during the anthem.
