'I don't remember much' about meeting with Papadopoulos

Source Suspected middleman boasted about Moscow contacts

President Donald Trump on Friday said he did not remember much about a meeting last year with a former campaign aide who pleaded guilty this month as part of a federal investigation into alleged Russian meddling in last year's US election campaign.

According to court documents released Monday, Papadopoulos said he was in a meeting with Trump and other advisers, including then-Sen.

A source at the Department of Justice confirmed to HuffPost that Sessions spoke out against the idea.

Papadopoulos' motive for seeking meetings between the campaign and Putin are still not clear. "If I were Sessions, I wouldn't have recalled it either".

According to court documents filed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Papadopoulos, a minor Trump campaign adviser said at the meeting of foreign policy advisers in March 2016 "that he had connections that could help arrange a meeting between then-candidate Trump and President Putin". "I don't remember much about it". The source said the request for clarification could take several forms, such as having Sessions testify again or submitting a clarification in writing, but that has not yet been determined.

The White House responded to word of Papadopoulos' guilty plea by dismissing his important to the campaign, saying he was only a "volunteer" whose claims should not be taken seriously. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Sessions was asked if Page met with Russian officials "at any point during the campaign".

Duterte to discuss NKorea with Japan's Abe
Lopez told reporters on Monday that the investments from Japan, the country's top trading partner, will benefit various economic sectors.

"I have not seen anything that would indicate a collusion with Russians to impact the campaign", he said.

"If there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?" Instead, he is suggesting that the attorney general be allowed to submit updated written testimony, they said.

Both Papadopoulos' and Page's statements appear to cast doubt on comments made by Sessions to the Senate multiple times since his confirmation hearing in early January, as well as remarks made by the president.

It is a crime to lie under oath to Congress. Sessions says that his answers were truthful because his meetings with Kislyak weren't specifically about the campaign. At least two Democratic members of the Senate judiciary committee, Al Franken of Minnesota and Patrick Leahy of Vermont, have asked the FBI to investigate whether Sessions committed perjury during his confirmation hearings.

"Did you overhear a conversation between you and anybody on the campaign who talked about meeting with the Russians?"

On Wednesday, Democrats said Sessions needs to clarify his comments. Ron Wyden, a Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee.
