Mr Bezos’ net worth rose to almost hit $90bn

But back on July 27, he dropped to second richest, just like he did today, because Amazon share prices worked in Jeff Bezos' favor, just like they did today.

Amazon stock jumped 13.5 percent on Friday after the company turned in another incredible earnings report - more than a quarter-billion dollars in profit in three months.

Bezos, who owns 17 percent of Amazon stocks, saw his net worth soar $10 billion to $92.8 billion at 1630 GMT - just three hours after USA markets opened.

$70 Yosemite entrance fee: Big increases proposed for parks
Federal law requires that 80 percent of all entrance fees collected at a national park be spent on maintenance at that park. Peak season is winding down at Shenandoah National Park, but next year's busy season could come with a price hike.

At the close of U.S. markets on Friday, Mr Bezos had a net worth of US$93.8 billion, US$5.1 billion ahead of Mr Gates on the Bloomberg index, a daily ranking of the world's 500 richest people. The move boosted Bezos's net worth by as much as $6.6 billion. Bill Gates have stayed in the list of top 10 billionaires of the world since 1995.

Bezos owned almost 80 million shares in Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) as of August, according to the most recent available data from FactSet. Gates's net worth rose by US$5.6 billion, even after he donated US$4.6 billion of Microsoft stock to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in August. Microsoft stock climbed about $6 a share, so Gates added nearly $600 million to his personal wealth.

Gates first hit the big time in 1995 when he was 39 and his $12.9 billion fortune put him on top of the billionaire ratings.
