Second trailer for Netflix's Bright shows how to make a shootout awkward

Will Smith and Joel Edgerton in the Netflix original film BRIGHT. Directed by David Ayer

It's the plot of Bright a new Netflix original movie directed by David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch, and, goddamn it, Suicide Squad), which stars Smith and Joel Edgerton and cost something like $90 million dollars to make.

After premiering the first trailer in July at San Diego Comic Con, Netflix released a second trailer this morning for Bright.

The film follows the story of two LAPD police officers played by Smith (Officer Ward) and Edgerton (Officer Jakoby) who form a most unlikely duo working to keep the mean streets of Los Angeles safe from a sinister underworld filled with gang violence and dark forces at work.

Bright hits Netflix on December 22, just in time for an awkward holiday viewing with your family.

She added that the story was "factually wrong" and that it was an attempt to "please the I&B ministry and the Bots Janata Party". The BJP has rubbished the allegation, saying Jay Shah's business was perfectly legitimate and legal.

When these two are forced to partner together - Edgerton's orc is the first to ever join the otherwise all-human police force - they are soon thrown in the deep end of a very risky plot involving sinister wizards and a magic wand that is described as "a nuclear bomb that grants wishes".

The trailer revolves around Smith and Egerton's characters chasing down and protecting the wand from evil elf Noomi Rapace, as well as any nefarious humans that may want to get their hands on the artifact.

What do you think about Bright's fusion of fantasy and cop movie? "I was able to do my thing". He's got a fun flair for action that overwhelms so numerous flaws in his work and also he's got a real skill at dealing with actors, especially when he's not working as a gun for hire or as the director of a Max Landis script. Orcs, however, are the lowest on the totem pole, leading to an interesting message for a fantasy film.

"I need you to take your fat, Shrek-looking [expletive] back the [expletive] home to Fiona", Smith says, referencing the 2001 film about an ogre voiced by Mike Myers.
