Apple Pay now available in the UAE

Today Nordea brings Apple Pay to customers in Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Only 27% of eligible iPhone owners have ever used Apple Pay and only 8% use it every week, according to payment systems consultant First Annapolis. When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Since 2015, boon has successfully launched in stages as an Android app, and has also become available for iOS users.

Apple Pay is now at more than 50 percent of all retail locations in the USA, including 67 of the top 100 United States retailers. Apple Pay is transforming mobile payments with an easy and secure way to pay that's fast and convenient.

In other Apple Pay news, the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority has approved a $573 million contract to take its payment terminals contactless, installing electronic readers in "500 subway turnstiles and on 600 buses in New York beginning late next year", according to The New York Times.

Finnish tech site Tekniikka ja Talous writes that even though Apple Pay is just being introduced, the lion's share of Finnish shops are already set up to use NFC (near field communication) technology, including shops, kiosks, service station and restaurants, the publication reports.
