Christian Atsu has pulled out of the Ghana squad for upcoming World Cup qualifier against Uganda because of a calf problem.

He was expected to return for the clash against the Black Stars but due to a tight work schedule, he says he won't make it.

Head coach of Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah, says his players are in "high spirits" ahead of their crucial Federation Internationale de Football Association 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Saturday.

The 25-year-old sustained an injury in the previous game against Congo and has been advised by his club to rest after playing through pains recently.

"We are still monitoring and that is why it is a national team, you don't always depend on few players".

Ghana will now face the cranes of Uganda without the services the three key players.

"We are still monitoring the other players before the game on Saturday and that is why it is a national team. All we know is that we are playing against the Black Stars of Ghana and we are going all out for a win", Basena said.

"We were hoping to get the full house but unfortunately Thomas Agyepong, Harrison, Jonathan Mensah, Asamoah Gyan and Afriyie Aquah are all out".
