Las Vegas Killer May Have Targeted Chance The Rapper Concert

Las Vegas Gunman May Have Planned Earlier Attack On Fest Headlined By Lorde

Authorities are investigating whether Stephen Paddock rented several units at a luxury high-rise overlooking a bigger music festival the weekend before he slaughtered concert-goers outside a Las Vegas casino, a law enforcement source told NBC News.

"The source suggested that Paddock may have lost his nerve or simply changed his plans and checked into the Mandalay Bay Hotel on September 28", the Daily Beast reports.

NBC News reported that approximately 50,000 fans attended the three-day festival, which was headlined this year by Chance the Rapper and Lorde. The Daily Beast contacted the Ogden, a 21-story condominium with a line of sight to the concert grounds.

At this time, it's not clear if it was a thwarted attempt to commit an earlier attack or a dry run as part of his meticulous planning for the Route 91 Harvest Festival attack.

The Las Vegas shooting has stirred up a lot of conversation surrounding gun control.

Life is handsome organizer Justin Weniger declined NBC's request for comment, saying the investigation was ongoing.

While it's still an ongoing investigation, the public affairs officer for Fais Foley Warren and owner of the Ogden, was not able to confirm or deny whether Paddock rented out a condo unit in their building. Paddock was found dead in his hotel room after he fired shots into the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest festival on Sunday night. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in our community, the victims, their families and the first responders".
