Trump Attacks San Juan Mayor Who Criticized Hurricane Response

Now even money is running out in storm-hit Puerto Rico

"I mean, the mayor is reacting to a very chaotic situation in Puerto Rico. Outside of the Fake News or politically motivated ingrates. people are now starting to recognize the awesome work" done by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the military, he tweeted. She also drove past still-flooded streets, twisted billboards and roofs with gaping holes, and offered encouragement to some of the emergency personnel the US government has on the ground. His senior general leading military relief operations in Puerto Rico, Lieutenant General Jeff Buchanan, said they were clearing roads and getting more supplies to people, but recognised "it's still a long haul".

In early morning tweets, Trump slammed Cruz after pleading for federal assistance in the wake of Hurricane Maria."Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help", he wrote. "You don't start trying to criticism them", Mr. Kasich told CNN's Jake Tapper.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, a Republican, urged an end to the political fingerpointing.

"General Buchanan, a three-star general, has said that he doesn't have enough troops and he doesn't have enough equipment", the mayor commented, adding, "So who am I?"

"If he asks to meet with me, of course I would meet with him", Cruz said.

President Trump's hometown newspaper is siding with other NY celebrity, Lin Manuel Miranda, over Trump's response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Bob Kadlec, a United States health and human services assistant secretary, said on Saturday that he could not confirm reports of disease outbreaks caused by contaminated water sources, but added that "it would not be unusual".

Trump also says of Puerto Rico: "We have it under really great control".

In a memo, White House aide Tom Bossert said he hopes to "turn the corner on our public communications" on the recovery efforts following Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico as a Category Four hurricane on September 20.

His office said Fema had so far delivered 2.5 million litres of water and two million meals; a Fema official added later that a barge carrying 2.4 million litres of water and 1.7 million meals had reached the San Juan port. Thousands more Puerto Ricans have received water and rationed food as an aid bottleneck has begun to ease. No long lines for you. "Let me clarify", she said Friday upon her arrival in San Juan. "It's just awful, those lines".

Dalvin Cook limps off, Lions take lead over Vikings
Trailing 14-7, the Vikings drove to first-and-goal at the Detroit in the waning moments, looking for a chance to tie the game. The Detroit Lions celebrate a fumble recovery during their win over the Vikings on Sunday. 7-6 Vikings third quarter.

Budget director Mick Mulvaney says the public needs to "judge us by the actions, please" in terms of efforts to help Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico 10 days ago, killing at least 16 people.

"The governor is giving a message that everything is resolved, and it is not true", Mayor Isidro Negron Irizarry said in Spanish on Twitter.

The Trump administration has been on the defensive since Friday when Cruz pounded the acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke over her comment that the federal response in Puerto Rico was "a good news story".

"Today, I am alone", said 89-year-old Georgina Penalver in the central town of Comerio, who spent her time praying as Hurricane Maria lashed the island, and who has been unable to get through to her eight children in the mainland.

Asked why it took so long to get the general in place, Townsend said, "My understanding from the White House is, that three-star general has been in place literally from the beginning, but he was managing sort of his role from the mainland US and I think the sort of adjustment here has been they're going to send him down there to understand better on the ground what the requirements are". She implored the president, who is set to visit the US territory on Tuesday, to "make sure somebody is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives". And the USA military is working with Puerto Rican officials and the island's National Guard to reach those still cut off.

Trump is now at his golf club.

This weekend, his critics derided his golfing once again. "Fastest golf cart you ever took". You're going straight to hell.
