Max Verstappen WINS Malaysian Grand Prix - Hamilton 2nd, Vettel 4th

Daniel Ricciardo Previews The Malaysian Grand Prix

Race leader Verstappen reacted the next lap, taking the softs, too, and rejoining ahead of Hamilton.

Team-mate Ricciardo added to Red Bull's good start with a superb pass on Bottas, and he soon turned his attention to Hamilton.

"I struggled on both sets [of tyre compound], the auto was good in some places and in some others, the issues we have with the vehicle are magnified".

"I really didn't think our auto was well suited to the track, but Lewis' problem opened the door and then I held off Max in the closing stages to take the win".

"But we really need to make sure we rectify them for next year's cars if we really want to fight both Ferrari and Red Bull when they step up their game".

Hamilton was driving maturely, thinking about his championship challenge rather than the race win, but even so, the fact that Verstappen was able to pull away and control his advantage over the Mercedes-GP man was an impressive effort of maturity.

"There is a lot of work for us to do", he explained.

"We still have problems with this auto and it was magnified here", Hamilton said.

"People have been saying all year long that we've got the best vehicle".

"We've got a lot of work to do with this auto so, considering the issues we did have, I think this is a good result", Hamilton said. "It's fantastic. It's a very tough race, so it's incredible to win", he added. I didn't sleep very well last night, probably like all my engineers as well, because we didn't know whether we were going to fix the issue or not.

Gosling's is an impressively internal performance, especially in a film where the external appears at first glance to reign. In a 2011 interview with EW, Cleopatra producer Scott Rudin said of Jolie, "It's only a movie with her [in it]".

This weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix has been a relatively cool one due to cloud cover on Friday and a qualifying start time of 17:00.

Qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix starts at 7pm on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old completed 14 laps in his Toro Rosso - more than any other driver in the session - with the best of 1:52.380 good enough for an impressive ninth place on the timing sheets.

"As a result, we ended up in the secondary group, running a little slower than our true pace, and could not overtake".

"I had to really make a decision when Max was closing me down, to not fight him and risk him crashing into me, because he's going to give it everything - he's got nothing to lose, whereas I've got everything to lose".

"They were struggling in Singapore and they got lucky with the first corner shunt".

"I was having problems with de-rate at the beginning of the race and struggling with battery power". He's now 34 points clear with five races to go.

More importantly, Daniil Kvyat has just been abysmal since being demoted from Red Bull.

"When you get that close it's a disappointment", he said.

Earlier in the day, FP3 was dominated by Ferrari, with Mr. Raikkonen setting the fastest time ahead of Mr. Vettel, who's engine broke down at the end of the session and could not be replaced in time for a qualifying run.
