If you ask Amazon's touchscreen-equipped Echo speaker to play a YouTube video of a dog wearing socks, for example, Alexa now gives the response: "Currently, Google is not supporting YouTube on Echo Show".
There was no mention by either Amazon or Google at the time that YouTube's video experience was "broken". It is likely that Google wants Amazon Echo Show to support features such as autoplay, subscriptions, video recommendations, etc. Amazon claims that Google's decision wasn't prompted by any technical reason, deeming it "disappointing" and stating that such a move hurts the customers of both companies.
The implication is Google has made a conscious decision (in Amazon's eyes) to pull YouTube from the Echo Show. It will resolve these issues soon.
You can see the statement from Amazon below.
With Google not being very open about what the exact nature of the problem is, it's hard to say just how easy - or possible - it is for Amazon to address the issue. YouTube is the biggest online video site, so its removal from the Echo Show will make it harder for users to watch most kinds of videos on the device.
"YouTube used to be available to our shared customers on the Echo Show", Amazon told the website.

Apple's iPhone's come with the built in Siri voice assistant while Google Assistant is available on Android phones, both of which can offer such weather forecasts and more when asked.
"Things get harder for end users because these companies can't get along", Mr Dawson said.
Amazon's take is that Google has been a bit naughty and switched off support without warning which, naturally, would cause disruption and unrest among users, and a new headache for Amazon. Amazon is taking a great risk in trying to venture to a new consumer product that has proven to be a hard sell.
The buttons can light up in different colors and connect to a compatible Echo device, according to the sign-up page for the gadgets on Amazon.
