Ghana beat arch-rivals Nigeria to win WAFU Cup of Nations

Nigeria Crush Cameroon in World Cup Qualifier

Eagles failed to fly on Sunday in the WAFU Nation Cup Final as they lost 0-4 to the Black Stars of Ghana.

Both sides had clashed in Group A match last week with Nigeria winning 2-0 but the hosts overpowered their rivals in the final played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.

Stephen Sarfo, who won the Golden Boot and was crowned Man of the Match, opened the goal feast a minute before halftime, before a 59th-minute goal by Vincent Atingah doubled their lead.

While, Rabiu Ali scored a stunning free kick late in the game, but it could not change anything as the Eagles settled for second place.

"The players were not motivated en-route the final with no provision of match allowances and other bonuses while their foes were massively motivated for the final match".

Ghana and Nigeria have met in 49 previous matches, according to Federation Internationale de Football Association statistics.

Another Ghanian player, Twum Isaac, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

While the impact of previous tests hasn't been fully understood, damage from radioactive fallout could be serious. No nation on Earth has an interest in seeing this band of criminals arm itself with nuclear weapons and missiles.

Sarfo, who was lurking in the 18 yard box, received a pass from Cobbinah, outwitted the defense of the visitors and placed the ball at the blind side of Nigeria goalie Ezenwa Ikechukwu, who remained rooted to the spot.

"The team never played together".

Coach Salisu Yusuf added that the WAFU Cup has given him an idea of his team for CHAN.

The outcome of the match was however a surprise to the coach of the Black stars.

"For me, the level of the competition was high and also a good preparation for us ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN)".

"We have seen Nigeria play most of their games in the afternoons, which had been very hard for them because of the scorching sun, now they would play in the evening and that would be a great atmosphere".
