Apple Admits Its New Apple Watch Series 3 Has a Big Problem

Apple Inc

In a statement, Apple acknowledged the problem stems from the Watch attaching to "unauthenticated Wi-Fi wireless networks without connectivity".

"We are investigating a fix for a future software release", the email said.

The watch is created to rely less on the iPhone, and lets users answer calls, get texts, talk to Siri and access third-party apps without being tethered.

It's possible Apple fixes this before the Apple Watch Series 3 begins shipping to customers on Friday.

In a review of the new Apple Watch Series 3 with Global Positioning System and cellular connectivity, The Verge noticed that the watch often didn't connect to networks properly. The Verge is just one of the sites to report serious battery drain issues when using LTE.

Tillerson Considering Closing Cuban Embassy Over Mysterious Sonic Attacks
According to the AP, some of the victims felt vibrations or heard loud sounds in only parts of rooms, typically over their beds. In recent months, they've been under attack at their hotels and at least 21 have fallen ill.

Regardless of the impending patch, this isn't a great first impression for those who upgraded from previous iterations of the Apple Watch. At one point during the show, a woman paddle boarding without her smartphone (but wearing the new Apple Watch) stood on her board and called into the event, demonstrating the smartwatch's ostensible independence.

Reviews of the new watch were posted on Wednesday morning, and most were users were disappointed with the product.

Problems with Apple watch connectivity cropped up on three different pre-production models, across two states and on two different carriers, Stern said. Now, the company is admitting to The Verge that the Apple Watch Series 3 isn't working like it's supposed to.

Some marquee features of the watch, like voice calls and Siri, failed to work reliably because of its shoddy cell connection. Still, users could use to ditch their mobile phone to make calls thanks to the LTE connection.

The tech giant unveiled the Series 3 last week, alongside the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. "This is the first generation watch with LTE", he told Reuters.
