'Vicious' Sanctions Will Only Speed Up Nuclear Program: North Korea

To shoot down or not? North Korea launch highlights intercept issues

The Xinhua report did not link the exercises to the ongoing tensions over North Korea, which are expected to dominate the United Nations General Assembly in NY later on Tuesday. The North conducted its sixth nuclear test on September 3 and was subsequently hit with tough, fresh United Nations sanctions.

The South Korean defence ministry warned parliament that the North's nuclear test site remained "ready" for a new test, Yonhap News Agency reported. New measures included a cap on oil imports and a ban on textile imports but fell short of the original USA proposal for a full oil embargo due to opposition from China and Russian Federation.

The U.S. blustered that it would not rule out "military option" while making absurd assertion that the sanctions are a peaceful solution.

As North Korea has defied U.N. Security resolutions to conduct nuclear and ballistic missile tests, Washington has been scrambling for an effective response.

"(The North) will likely carry out more nuclear tests and missile launches to secure nuclear capabilities", Jang added.

Four more of Japan's 34 PAC-3 units, largely used to defend the capital region, were relocated to southwestern Japan recently after North Korea warned of sending missiles toward the USA territory of Guam.

Her visit raised suspicion whether the United States was actually considering a pre-emptive attack on North Korea, but an official from the USA military denied the speculation, saying Cordray had previously visited in May and that her most recent trip was part of a routine check of local systems.

The effectiveness of the sanctions depends largely on whether China, North Korea's ally and main economic partner, will fully implement them.

Still, they were less harsh than those initially proposed by the USA - and Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, spoke ominously of the possible failures of diplomacy.

The true intention of the U.S.is to appease the opposition from several countries against the escalation of tension and the outbreak of war in the Korean peninsula and the region and involve them in the sanctions and pressure campaign against the DPRK by all means.

Trump, in a tweet, asserted that long lines for gas were forming in North Korea, and he said that was "too bad".

The worldwide community is scrambling to contain an increasingly belligerent Pyongyang, which has conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test and fired long-range missiles over Japan that it says could reach the US mainland.

"If North Korea keeps on with this reckless behaviour, if the United States has to defend itself or defend its allies in any way, North Korea will be destroyed".

-McMaster suggested that Friday's bomb attack in London could lead Trump to introduce a stronger travel ban.
