Lights turned on for Clayton County after Irma

1.1 million in Florida still without power after Irma

Duke Energy Corp, which serves the northern and central parts of Florida, said on its website it expects to restore service to most customers by midnight September 17. More than 65 percent of customers in Collier, where Irma made landfall and inflicted the worst damage, are restored; FPL expects to be essentially complete September 22.

Hundreds of thousands of customers in Florida are still without power nine days after Hurricane Irma hit.

In St. Johns County, more than 1,300 FPL customers and a few JEA customers remain without power.

Nearly 1 million of the Atlanta utility's customers lost power during Monday's storm.

The suit claims FPL charged $2 to $10 per month that was earmarked to pay for clearing trees near power lines and placing power lines underground.

"We do appreciate the effort FPL made in being here in full force all week", Deputy Town Manager Jay Boodheshwar said.

Further outrage and bewilderment came in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma as the FPL's rules state that should its own system go down, any connected solar setups must be shut down too, meaning homeowners could not tap into the alternative power source they desperately needed despite it being right in front of them.

South Carolina's Deebo Samuel out indefinitely after surgery on fractured leg
If South Carolina can continue its progress in those two areas, it won't have a tough time beating Kentucky. Samuel, a big play wideout and dynamic return threat, injured his left leg in the third quarter.

About 300,000 customers remain without power, according to a September 17 statement.

During Wilma, 3.24 of FPL's then-4.3 million customers (about 75 percent) lost power, many for more than two weeks.

Exceptions could occur in areas throughout Florida that are impacted by unusual circumstances such as tornadoes, severe flooding, heavy tree and debris damage. Campbell admits to texting an FPL official and asking him to restore power at homes belonging to her relatives.

FPL has established walk-up sites for our customers in several communities.

Salmon said the gratitude the people of Florida have shown his crew and other crews is overwhelming.

"To our customers without power, I want you to know that we understand how frustrating it can be, and we will not stop until everyone's lights are back on", Silagy said. "Shutting off power is a last resort, and we would not cut off power to someone because they haven't been able to pay their bill for good reason".

In an update from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, insurance companies have received 372,281 claims for an estimated $2.1 billion in Irma-related damage.
