Brexit Briefing: Pound Buffeted as Report Boris Could Resign is Denied

Boris Johnson and Donald Trump meet for first time in public

The Johnson affair, has drawn flak from some Cabinet colleagues with one accusing the foreign secretary of an unhelpful move that placed "personal ambition ahead before the interests of the country".

Britain's pound jumped by around half a cent against the dollar on Tuesday, with traders citing a report from the Telegraph newspaper that United Kingdom foreign minister Boris Johnson would resign before the weekend if his Brexit demands are not met.

May and Johnson are both in NY for a meeting of the United Nations.

And asked directly if he would resign, he replied: "No".

"We are working together, that is the key thing, to make sure that Britain can take advantage of the opportunities of Brexit".

No 10 said Friday's Florence speech was a "significant moment" and that the Prime Minister would welcome input from her most senior ministers before it is delivered.

The foreign secretary was ambushed by journalists in NY after he returned from a run.

And yesterday The Sun revealed that the Foreign Secretary has fears that the European Union will play so hard with Britain that Brexit talks will fail and we will be forced to walk away with no deal.

National Football League team values rise, Dallas Cowboys worth $4.8B
The team rose in value by 16 percent thanks to the opening of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the sponsorship dollars committed. A article published by Forbes on Monday said that the value of the Jacksonville Jaguars has risen to $2.075 billion.

Speaking in New York, Johnson was asked by reporters if he planned to resign in footage aired by Sky News.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr Johnson dismissed suggestions he could quit the Cabinet in protest if Mrs May offers too many concessions to the EU.

On Monday, the Prime Minister attempted to stamp her authority on the matter, by stating "This Government is driven from the front".

Johnson is adamant that Britain should leave the single market - known as a "clean Brexit" - instead of adopting "Swiss-style" arrangements.

Mr Johnson's decision to pen an explosive 4,000-word newspaper article setting out his own Brexit blueprint prompted calls for Mrs May to sack the Foreign Secretary over the breakdown in Cabinet discipline.

Lord Hague, the former Tory leader and foreign secretary, today warned that unless May could unite the cabinet behind her Jeremy Corbyn would end up as prime minister.

Veteran Tory Europhile Ken Clarke said Mr Johnson should have faced the sack for his Brexit intervention.
