Fortnite Accidentally Featured PS4, Xbox One Cross-Platform Play This Weekend

Fortnite

"We had a configuration issue and it has now been corrected."
Glixel reached out to Epic Games and it confirmed that while the crossplay did actually happen, it wasn't intentional.

To further verify this, one player on Xbox One played a match with his son on PS4. Sony later ruled out cross-platform play with Minecraft on the Xbox One as well.

Intrigued by his discovery, PRE_-CISION-_ switched over to his Xbox One and did some digging, quickly discovering a user with the same name on Xbox Live, as well as a teammate that zCypher had been playing with. It also appears that PC and Xbox One players were once able to play together, but the functionality was removed in a previous update to the game. As of today though, an official FAQ on the game's website still states that "cross-platform play is not supported by Fortnite at this time".

Released in July by Epic, the title focuses on the survival of players through exploration, crafting, scavaging, and various other in-game actions, all while fending off hordes of monsters and enemies.

Security scare grounds British Airways plane in Paris
That's when we noticed police and fire vehicles quickly surround the plane and dozens of armed officers and firefighters got out. Authorities later cleared the flight for takeoff after completing security checks, the French national police said.

If you still don't believe this and are thinking the other player is on PC, then know that Fortnite doesn't utilize Xbox Live for PC multiplayer.

Epic appears to have quietly enabled cross-platform play between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in Fortnite.

Would enabling cross-play online be a smart move from Microsoft or Sony? So starting two days ago, when Fortnite players on PS4 reported encountering Xbox One players in-game, it came as quite a shock. While Microsoft is up for it, Sony remained cold to the prospect as of spring 2016.
