MI teacher assaults student for not standing during pledge

Farmington teacher accused of mistreating student on leave

A MI teacher has been placed on leave after she allegedly assaulted a student who refused to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance.

Stone had quite recently begun his first week at East Middle School, yet his family isn't sure on the off chance that he'll backpedal. And in this particular case, a black sixth-grader out of MI says he was assaulted by his homeroom teacher all because he was exercising his rights and declined to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

The next day, another teacher yelled at him for sitting down.

A statement from the superintendent of the Farmington Hills Public School District said the teacher who assaulted the sixth grader has been placed on administrative leave.

The next day, Chaney said he was verbally reprimanded by another teacher for doing the same thing.

Republican senator warned Trump about 'affirmation of hate groups'
But as we learned last month, the president's immediate and unequivocal condemnation of racist groups is no longer a given. In an interview with Vice, Scott called Trump's "moral authority" into question over the response to Charlottesville .

The child's father, Brian Chaney, echoed his son's sentiments during an interview with the Farmington Voice. As of right now, Chaney has not gone back to the school, and his family is juggling with the idea of moving his to another district.

Stone is very adamant about not standing, saying that he does not pledge to a flag. She also told him he would need a special note to be allowed to sit. "At Farmington Public Schools, we expect every child and adult in our district to be treated with dignity and respect", he said. The teacher allegedly involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave. "He's a national hero right now", Brian Chaney, his father, said. "The District fully supports the right of each student to participate or not in the daily Pledge. He believes in what he believes in", Chaney said. He's not anxious about what other people think of him'. Now he's accusing East Middle School of violating Stone's civil rights.

Chaney and his wife brought their concerns to the school board, but told reporters they didn't think their concerns were being taken seriously.

Phillina Mullin, Stone's mother, said the educator should not have touched Stone.

"They have their beliefs and I have mine", Stone said. A Native American teenager from northern California who had been sitting it out for years reportedly was docked a grade last year when she refused to stand for the pledge.
