Rams star Aaron Donald ends holdout, returns to team without new contract

Los Angeles Rams rout Indianapolis Colts in opening week winning 46-9

Los Angeles Rams All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald has officially ended his contract holdout. The team confirmed that Donald took and passed his physical. Los Angeles Rams' coach Sean McVay has said Donald will play whenever he is able to contribute, even if he doesn't play all the snaps. However, he will not play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Los Angeles will be hosting the Indianapolis Colts and will look to start the 2017 regular season on the right foot.

It's reasonable to expect Donald to be back on the field in Week 2 against the Redskins, though ProFootballTalk suggests it could be a few weeks before he plays.

Donald stayed away from the Rams starting in May, holding out through offseason team activities, training camp and the entire preseason while attempting to get a lucrative new contract.

Donald has been an instant star from the moment the Rams selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 National Football League draft. Donald would have lost $106,014 every game he sat out, but it appears he has avoided that outcome. Donald is one of those players, and they need to get him a contract soon that better suits one of the best players in the NFL.

Donald is scheduled to make $1.8 million this year and $6.9 million in 2018 under the terms of his rookie deal. That is not enough money for one of the best players in the game today and it has not been reported if the Rams agreed to give him a raise.
