The FBI Is Investigating Uber's 'Hell' Program For Tracking Lyft

Based on the latest report, he won't have tiresome moments as the problems from the previous era continue to pile up. The company used it between 2014 and 2016. The software's existence was first reported in February, and now the FBI is investigating its use, reports The Wall Street Journal. FBI is said to be primarily interested in whether the software was used to access any computer in an unauthorized manner, thus breaking federal laws.

Greyball is another software tool that allows Uber to monitor app use to a limited extent and push a different map view to a device other than the actual real-time view. Even though she dismissed the case, the plaintiff was given a chance to amend his complaint so he could file another lawsuit.

Uber Technologies Inc.is under investigation by federal authorities in NY for its alleged use of a spyware program, according to reports.

The records, which stemmed from the MyTWC mobile app, date as far back as November 2010 - years before Charter bought TWC.

This is the latest in a series of legal investigations into Uber's practices and allegations about its workplace culture. Uber allegedly used the program to see which drivers were working for it and Lyft at the same time, and pushed more customers toward Uber drivers in an attempt to edge out their ride-hailing rival.

State officials have walked back requirements for Uber and Lyft drivers after background check requirements were widely slammed for being overly burdensome because they disqualified potential drivers with decades-old infractions. Needless to say, these are serious violations and it is not surprising that this practice is now being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Furthermore, Uber was also able to learn whether a driver was working for both companies, and target these persons with incentives to drop Lyft.
