Syrian army was behind April gas attack and Russian Federation made it worse

Syrian troops have been battling against Islamic State

Twenty-seven were by President Bashar al-Assad's forces, including seven between March 1 to July 7.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his allies are guilty of using chemical weapons dozens of times during the civil war raging in the country for the past six and a half years, United Nations investigators said Wednesday. But that conclusion, reached by a fact-finding mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), did not say who carried it out.

The attack was previously identified as containing sarin, an odourless nerve agent.

Russian and Syrian government forces had hit hospitals in the vicinity shortly before and after the incident, "thus preventing victims of chemical attacks from obtaining essential medical treatment".

As part of an aerial campaign in northern Hama and southern Idlib, on 4 April the Syrian air force used sarin in Khan Shaykhun, killing over 80 people, most of whom were women and children.

"In Al-Jinah, Aleppo, forces of the United States of America failed to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians and civilian objects when attacking a mosque, in violation of global humanitarian law", the report said.

Syria's government has denied involvement and claims it no longer possesses chemical weapons after a 2013 agreement under which it pledged to surrender its chemical arsenal. All but six have been attributed to Assad forces, with no perpetrators identified for the early attacks.

The advance of government forces in Deir el-Zour was a victory for Assad, and could soon provide relief for tens of thousands of civilians besieged by the militants since early 2015.

The couple had a long-distance relationship while studying overseas - Mako in Britain and Komuro in the U.S. - for one year. Prince Hisahito is now third in line to the throne after his uncle, Crown Prince Naruhito, and his father Prince Akishino .

That attack led U.S. President Donald Trump to launch the first U.S. air strikes on a Syrian air base.

The U.N. investigators interviewed 43 witnesses, victims, and first responders linked to the attack.

Since the April 6 attack on the Syrian airbase, the Trump administration has changed direction in Syria in promising Russia, Assad's staunch ally, to end a covert Central Intelligence Agency program that armed opposition forces there.

The report found that four bombs were dropped from a jet in service of the Syrian regime.

August 25, 2015: Syrian rebels and activists say they documented a chemical weapons attack on August 21 in the rebel stronghold of Marea in northern Aleppo, affecting dozens of people.

- Investigators believe chemical weapons including Sarin were used around 27 times.

But following an attack on the Damascus suburb of Ghouta the following year, the USA struck a deal brokered by Russian Federation which saw the bulk of Syria's supplies of sarin removed from the country.

At least 38 people were killed in the attack, including a woman and three boys ranging from 6 to 13 years old.
