Editors Guild of India said, "We are deeply shocked and strongly condemn the murder of Gauri Lankesh, senior journalist and Editor, Lankesh Patrika".

Protests erupted across the city and some parts of the state today condemning the "cold blooded murder" of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru.

It also demanded that the state government must ensure the culprits are subjected to maximum punishment, be they foot-soldiers or the masterminds.

At the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club, journalists paid floral tributes to a portrait of the veteran editor and lit candles. "Her assassination must be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice".

A number of politicians from across party lines, journalists and others have come out to sharply condemn the murder and have demanded that the investigation into her killing be fast-tracked.
