Liverpool linked with audacious move for Arsenal superstar

Reports in England claim Manchester City want to sign Alexis in a player-plus cash swap deal involving either Raheem Sterling or Sergio Aguero.

Alexis Sanchez has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer and the matter now seems to be coming to a head.

Guardiola is understood to want the Chilean as a straight purchase. With the transfer window closing Thursday night, those rumors will likely persist until that point.

Arsenal have so-far refused to allow Sanchez to leave the club, despite the Chile worldwide only having a year left on his contract, but a bid £70 million or more could prove tempting for a player who is likely to leave for free next summer. Sanchez has reportedly asked for permission to leave the Chile worldwide squad for 24 hours amid latest reports of a transfer bid from Manchester City.

The Texans also pledged $1 million to the flood relief efforts. "There is an emptiness in the thought we would play in Houston". This is not going to be solved by one win, this is not going to be solved overnight and we want our people to be safe.

Sterling, meanwhile, has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola so far this season, having started just one of Manchester City's three Premier League games.

The big shock from today's news is the potential of Sterling or Aguero being offered in exchange as part of the deal.

Arsene Wenger has previously said that Sanchez is not for sale, but following Arsenal's 4-0 hammering at Liverpool the striker's future looks even more in doubt.

Tuesday morning saw direct contact between the clubs regarding the Chilean after weeks of back-channel activity, although Arsenal's stance remains that they will not sell - at least not unless a player comes the other way.
